SAP ERP integration is the backbone of In Mind Manufacturing Sales platform (MSP), which covers a variety of data points such as Materials, Material Classification, Characteristics, Classes, Unit of Measures, Sales Texts, Material Substitution, etc.
The integration is built on standard SAP BAPI and supported on the SAP Cloud platform by Connectivity Service.
The integration is bidirectional i.e. MSP not only consumes data from ERP, but also creates data in it. This includes creating Sales Quote, Sales Orders.
For make-to-order process, MSP also creates material and its bill of material into SAP ERP. Additional custom features are also supported, for example credit limit check, custom field selection etc.
From the process point of view, SAP ERP integration covers consuming master data, synchronizing product, simulate sales order pricing, sales order creation.
Below image shows the various integration points outbound and inbound SAP ERP.
SAP Cloud Connector
SAP Cloud connector also known as SCC, is a free software made available by SAP to connect subaccounts in SAP Cloud Platform (SCP) to backend SAP ERP systems via a secure tunnel. The Cloud Connector is a standalone application which runs on a host within customer's internal network. For more information on SCP Connectivity Service please visit:
The SCC software can be downloaded and installed from SAP Hana Cloud Platform Tool site: https://tools.hana.ondemand.com/#cloud
Usage and configuration can be done by following the official documentation at
Also, at
https://blogs.sap.com/2015/07/13/cloud-connector-a-brief-guide-for-beginners/
Once the SCC installation is completed, the SAP Cloud Platform account details to be connected needs to be registered in the application.
The above setup will create a secure tunnel connection with the target SAP Cloud Platform account as shown in below image of SCP Cockpit.
Connecting MSP to SAP ERP System
After the secure tunnel between SCC and SCP is established, RFC destination need to be setup. This can be done either at the subaccount level of SAP Cloud Platform or at the application (MSP) level. As one subaccount may contain multiple applications (production, sandbox, test, and so on), it is recommended to do this at application level to differentiate and ensure the correct backend SAP ERP System.
