Introduction
Cross-functional collaboration and documentation are essential elements of a digital workspace.
A user can attach to any business object (i.e. accounts, opportunities, quotes, etc.) either physical files (e.g. documents such as PDFs, Word files, Excel sheets, etc.) or Links / URLs pointing to either files or folders on collaboration platforms (such as SharePoint, Dropbox, SAP Jam, etc.).
For this, the administrator can define a so-called 'Attachment Usage' which describes the type of an attachment. This can be done under 'Administration' -> 'Master Data Management' -> 'Attachment Usage'.
On an attachment usage, the administrator can further define the visibility of the respective usage by restricting the visibility. For instance, the administrator restricts the usage of 'Product Image' to be used for links or URLs, but only for attachments:
Add File / Link
The attachment usage can then be selected when uploading attachments such as files and/or links on the business object.
Copy Attachment Link
For attachments in quotes, it is possible to include links. However, with long links and limited column width, users are unable to copy links that are cut off. To copy a link, hover the cursor on the link and right-click to 'Copy Link Address'.
