    Password Policy

    Under 'Administration' -> 'Operation Settings' -> 'Password Policy Settings', an administrator can define specific requirements on how passwords need to be constructed. The following options are available:

     

    Field Meaning
    Password Minimum Length Defines the minimum amount of characters.
    Password Maximum Length Defines the maximum amount of characters. 
    Minimum number of lowercase characters Defines minimum required amount of lowercase / uppercase / special / numeric characters. 
    Minimum number of uppercase characters
    Minimum number of special characters
    Minimum number of numeric characters
    Number of old password allowed

    If set to:

    • blank; a previously used password cannot be used again.
    • 0; the same password can be used over and over again.
    • 1 and up; depending on the setting, the user needs to select 1, 2, 3, and so on... different passwords before s/he can re-use a previously used password again.

    Existing password will continue to work. Changing the password policy will not automatically invalidate existing, valid passwords. Only during initial user creation (refer to 'User Creation' for additional information) or password reset, the password policy is taken into consideration.
